Our Data Policy describes how we collect, store, process and use information from our users to provide services on all our platforms.
The information we collect We need to process information about the user to enable us analyse poll results better. We collect and store the following information about all users:
- Personal Information:
- Passport picture:
- Name (first, last and other names)
- Email address
- Login details (username and password)
- Religion
- Gender
- Date of birth
- Political Information: We collect the following information or their equivalents for both your place of origin and residence:
- Country
- State
- Local Government Area
- Electoral Delimitation (Senatorial District, Federal Constituency, State Constituency, Ward)
- Political Party of affiliation
- Voter’s Registration Number (issued by the authorized electoral body in your country)
- Career Information
- Education Information
- Education level (Primary, secondary, tertiary, none or their equivalents in your country)
- Financial Information: We collect the following information only from users who require access to our paid services including our psephology services, special polls and access to our campaign donations platform:
- Bank Name and address
- Account Name
- Account Number
- SORT/IBAN/SWIFT Code
- Credit or Debit Card details
- Information you give about yourself when you post content and communicate with other users on our platform. This includes the polls, your profile, campaign manifesto and campaign page that you create on the platform to present yourself to the public and manage your campaign page.
- Information from third parties: Advertisers, app developers, and publishers can send us information through the Pollbook Business Tools they use, including our social plug-ins (such as the Like button), Pollbook Login, our APIs and SDKs, or the Pollbook pixel. These partners provide information about your activities on Pollbook, and such information include information about your device, websites you visit, purchases you make, the ads you see, and how you use their services but only if you have a Pollbook account or are logged into Pollbook. We also receive information about your online and offline actions and purchases from third-party data providers who have the rights to provide us with your information. Partners receive your data when you visit or use their services or through third parties they work with. We require each of these partners to have lawful rights to collect, use and share your data before providing any data to us.
How we collect this information
We collect mandatory information from users with predesigned and formatted forms available on the site and our proprietary Pollbook Business Tools including our social plug-ins (such as the Like button), Pollbook Login, our APIs and SDKs, or the Pollbook pixel. We also collect information about you from public documents in law courts and regulatory agencies, and the Internet including Google and other search engines, other social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn etc.), public library, publications (books, journals, official biographies etc.). Lastly, we collect information about you from third party partners who advertise or provide services to which you gain access from Pollbook.
We do not solicit information and/or data about you from other social media platforms, private investigators, healthcare institutions, medical, legal and finance professionals.
What we do with the information we collect
Firstly, we use the information we collect to generate a unique identification and provide secure access for every user on the platform. Secondly, we use information that you provide when you have signed up for our services to analyse the results of polls that you create and/or vote in. lastly, we use your contact details to send you results, alerts and messages relating to your activities on the platform including instructions to reset your password securely if you forget it.
Unique Identification and access control: Every user must have a unique identification on the platform. We create your unique identification with the Personal Information that you provide to sign up for access to the platform and access our products and services
Analysis: We analyse the results of polls running on the platform by the information you provide when you want to vote in a poll on the platform. This includes your Career, Education and Political Information. The particular information required for voting in a poll is preselected from the Poll Category by the pollster when the poll is created. Once selected, a voter may participate in the polls only when all fields with the required information are completed
What we DO NOT DO with the information we collect
We do not use information about you in unlawful or questionable ways including:
- Storing of financial information: We do not store users’ financial information on our platform or share it with any third parties. We also have no feature to maintain financial accounts for users’ recurrent transactions on our platform except a secure Wallet provided by our financial technology partners and payment gateway providers. We only hold users’ financial information temporarily to facilitate the transaction and immediately the transaction is completed with the bank or payment gateway provider, we lose all record of the users’ financial information. Any record of the user’s financial information may only be retained by the bank, fintech company or payment gateway service provider in the normal course of their business, and their reporting and audit purposes. Our platform is certified safe and financial transactions are securely encrypted to our payment gateway service providers’ standards and we regularly review the experience of users both on our platform and our payment gateways to prevent, determine or fix any breach or attempt to breach our security
- Data mining and sharing: We are not involved in data mining, and we do not mine or authorize others to mine data on our platform. Accordingly, we do not disclose or share your data or information about you with other social media, marketing and data analysis firms, other users or candidates in any poll running on our platform. In countries where it is mandated, we may be forced to disclose or share data or information about you or about your activities on our platform to a regulatory agency. In such cases, you will be duly informed before we disclose any information about you to the agency. We may access, preserve and share your information with regulators, law enforcement or others in the following cases:
- In response to a legal request (like a search warrant, court order or subpoena) if we have a good faith belief that the law requires us to do so. This may include responding to legal requests from jurisdictions outside of the United States when we have a good-faith belief that the response is required by law in that jurisdiction, affects users in that jurisdiction, and is consistent with internationally recognized standards.
- When we have a good-faith belief it is necessary to: detect, prevent and address fraud, unauthorized use of the services, violations of our terms or policies, or other harmful or illegal activity; to protect ourselves (including our rights, property or services), you or others, including as part of investigations or regulatory inquiries; or to prevent death or imminent bodily harm. For example, if relevant, we provide information to and receive information from third-party partners about the reliability of your account to prevent fraud, abuse and other harmful activity on and off our services.
Information we receive about you (including financial transaction records related to purchases made with and through Pollbook) can be accessed and preserved for an extended period when it is the subject of a legal request or obligation, governmental investigation, or investigations of possible violations of our terms or policies, or otherwise to prevent harm. We also retain information from accounts disabled for terms violations for at least a year to prevent repeat abuse or other term violations.
- Targeted marketing: We do not use information about you to develop or help others to develop marketing campaigns or adverts targeted directly at you. All adverts and marketing messages on our platform are directed at a general demographic and available to all users at the same time in plain view on the site or via direct link from the platform.

We will notify you before we make changes to this policy and give you the opportunity to review the revised policy before you choose to continue using our services.
